I was surprised when my computer in my boss decided to change our operating system in our office from Microsoft to Linux and Red Hat. I'm not a Microsoft fan, but my boss is, that's why it became a mystery to us why this MS office supporter who acts like his a distant relative of president
Bill Gates suddenly switch to an office suite in open format. This became the subject of the talk by people in my department, the I.T. department because we are in charged of the task in checking sites that sell Red Hat and Linux software products.
As curious as
Bugs Bunny, I ask my department manager about is idea why we are swiftly migrating to the open source planet. Samuel, my department head, is as confused as everybody else but we have no other recourse but to follow orders from the high ranking officials. Like I said in my recent blog entries, open source software suites are cheaper and easier to manipulate than proprietary software, and perhaps that's also the reason plus the cost-cutting issue we have in mind, that's why we're switching to a new OS. I haven't finish typing the first paragraph of this entry when Samuel came back and gave us each a memo about the said OS shift. It states that if we can get as many information on new software products both from Red Hat and Linux, the better.
So I immediately snatch my other Toshiba notebook and made a quick Google search. On the latest news, Red Hat will be having it's second summit but there would be no new products to be launched, however upgraded development tools will be presented in the said conference. Aside from that, the company has reformatted their web sites and communities to make it more appealing to developers and consumers. There's nothing much in the web about Linux today, perhaps I might check on the tech mags later after break.
The software giant is again brewing some new products that will totally be a sold-out to Microsoft-loving freaks. Perhaps, this is to prove that President Bill Gates won't entirely leave the company for good because he's starting new projects for the comp
