Sun Microsystems have been in the computer business for several years now. However, computer critics said that the company is having a sort of financial and identity crisis that's why it'll be conducting a mass layoff soon. On the other hand, with Java as one of their biggest successful products, they are now gearing towards developing more open source software products. Like what we usually see in newspapers and technology magazines, Sun has several plans aside from open-sourcing Java to boost its product sales and get a wider scope of market.
One of these plans is their much-awaited comeback in the manufacturing of blade servers. If my memory serves me right, they have servers released two years ago. However, they were not successful because there were flaws in the products and the market was dominated by IBM and HP.
This year, they will be presenting a series of servers and blades with the code titled Andromeda which will hopefully be spread in the market this September. The new blades will be equipped with more RAS features that will help networks manage more applications without consuming so much power. The servers promise a very user friendly interface and easily upgradable central processing units. Aside from that they want customers to realize that the new product is more power-efficient.

Non-proprietary software products are becoming the favorite of most computer users because aside from the fact that they are cheap, most of it are more user-friendly than the commercial software products. Red Hat and Linux, for instance, are able to provide software applications that are able to reach more people because most of them have free download versions until now. With regards to security, fixing patches is easy as long as you have a trusted network administrator to assist you.
With more products coming from Microsoft alternatives, the better the future of operating systems will become. I think this statement is true because one, we will not be trapped in a single brand of software anymore. Two, the non-proprietary software products have many supporting communities from software development companies. Three, we have Fedora, which is the latest product powered by Linux and one that has a free version online.
Security is not a problem with this new tool because updates and patches are available through its package manager. This is also equipped with the graphical software tools like Pup and Pirut that furnishes sufficient performance for the tools upgrading software. Can Microsoft's president Bill Gates come up with something like Fedora? Yeah, I guess so, if he'll cross over to open software as well.

When I hear open source community, only one word pops in my mind: Linux. Whether you like it or not, Linux for me is the benchmark of all open-source products, and it'll forever be the leading choice for operating system in the open format. But of course, I don't want president Bill Gates to get mad at me, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that Microsoft is the major provider for the closed software systems.
Anyway, as I'm saying open-source Linux are two inseparable entities, just like the Sweet Valley High Twins. And now with the support of Intel and the power of Red Hat, the said software entices more users to switch to the alternative OS. The biggest factor why people love Linux is it gave them the power to control and customize PCs, unlike in proprietary OS like Microsoft. With the growing popularity of the non-strict systems, the company was able to organize an annual conferences to be able to provide more information about the said software and for users to be familiarize with the various applications that it can offer. Truly Linux was able to raise itself from the OS confined in the four corners of New York. Thus, it will become the next OS of the world.

I was surprised when my computer in my boss decided to change our operating system in our office from Microsoft to Linux and Red Hat. I'm not a Microsoft fan, but my boss is, that's why it became a mystery to us why this MS office supporter who acts like his a distant relative of president Bill Gates suddenly switch to an office suite in open format. This became the subject of the talk by people in my department, the I.T. department because we are in charged of the task in checking sites that sell Red Hat and Linux software products.
As curious as Bugs Bunny, I ask my department manager about is idea why we are swiftly migrating to the open source planet. Samuel, my department head, is as confused as everybody else but we have no other recourse but to follow orders from the high ranking officials. Like I said in my recent blog entries, open source software suites are cheaper and easier to manipulate than proprietary software, and perhaps that's also the reason plus the cost-cutting issue we have in mind, that's why we're switching to a new OS. I haven't finish typing the first paragraph of this entry when Samuel came back and gave us each a memo about the said OS shift. It states that if we can get as many information on new software products both from Red Hat and Linux, the better.
So I immediately snatch my other Toshiba notebook and made a quick Google search. On the latest news, Red Hat will be having it's second summit but there would be no new products to be launched, however upgraded development tools will be presented in the said conference. Aside from that, the company has reformatted their web sites and communities to make it more appealing to developers and consumers. There's nothing much in the web about Linux today, perhaps I might check on the tech mags later after break.

News reports on TV and technology magazines have reported that open source companies and communities will provide employment to a lot of software developers around the globe. This issue has been going around several times now that even this blog have been a victim to what I consider a full gossip truth. Gossip truth because there well maybe a lot of chance of good for nothing unemployed workers to grab a job but that will happen if open source have taken its full form.
And contrary to that, Sun Microsystems, the company behind the open-sourcing Java thingy, will have a mass layoff as a part of their development plan to gain back their profits. This is extremely sad for those people who will be forced to leave the company, and if I'm not hallucinating whilst writing this entry, an approximate of four to five thousand employees will lose their source of income. With the new CEO Jonathan Schwartz in position, a complete renovation is needed to bring back the firm's financial wealth.
Sheesh, I did not realize things can go bad as this for a computer company that we've learned to love over time. I can't imagine what will happen to the hapless employees who lose their income just because the company needs to earn more money. I don't blame Sun for their move if they really need to do that, provided that they will give enough separation fees for the people who will leave them. If this is the fate of open source companies, will Microsoft Corporation president still be threatened on the growth of open suites?

Software which are open source products may sometimes be good to be true because some of them lack the features of it's commercial counterparts. That is why there are more wise consumers who do not incarcerate themselves from every technology trend that surfaces in the computer world. They're not gullible to the spoon feeding act the media and computer companies are currently doing to be able to grab the neck of their patronizers. Sad to say, but open source technology, just like other old trends may stay here for a while then come to its end sooner than we think.
But if you're really interested with using open source software, you can freely use them as long as you are not one of those who'll be next sued by the software giant Microsoft Corporation for downloading and using applications from the OpenOffice.org. Men from the giant company said that it is quintessentially without liability and warranty, and that they always have the right to sue whoever is using it. This is another hurricane attack in the already dizzying digitally driven world that we lived in.
I think this move by Microsoft Corporation will alarm those who use the other office suite because of the lack of budget and downloading it for free is a money saving idea. Open source is likened to a garage sale of software products where in it is given freely to those computer users who are in need and those who knew what good can they get from it. But with Microsoft meddling with the free service provided by OpenOffice.org, I have the feeling that they are just threatened due to the fact that open source is a growing revolution in the software industry.

As theowner of this immortal blog, I realized that I've already contributed loads of stuff that are commonly used for the office firms. Word processors, spreadsheets, presentations and Photoshop are amongst the products that I've given reviews and shared with you. I'm also happy that though I'm not an endorser of such products, there are people who follow my tips and buy the products that I've written in this blog, and being able to help those guys is an ultimate pleasure for me.
Anyway, before I end up doing my thank you speech as if I'm a recipient of the prestigious Nobel Prize, let me share something that you guys won't dare think of me. This might come to you as a surprise, but although I flirt with words everyday, I have had my own collection of problems when it comes to writing. Personally, my problem is that sometimes I end up using the same words again and again even for the umpteenth time around because of my very limited vocabulary. Another problem with me is that I'm too wordy when it comes to ideas that can be express by other writers in three to four words is a whole paragraph when it come with me. I usually write using my HP Pocket PC or my Fujitsu portable notebook, but even the word processor is not enough to polish my language.
But that was before, because I met an expert that help me pour out my ideas creatively and properly in the blank sheet of the digital paper and write easily and fluently. Grammar Expert (GE) is designed to help us to chronicle whatever we want to publish that would like it was written by a real professional writer. The lousy spell check and grammar check features of Microsoft Word is way behind with GE because this new writing partner also have a word count, sentence measure and thesaurus features aside from the helpful grammar check that it can provide. With the new tool, I make my ancestor William Shakespeare proud every time I finished a composition.

With regards to office software suites, I really think that Microsoft has found its real rival in the presence of OpenOffice.Org.2 I was an avid user of Microsoft office before and I can say that they've done a great job that an ordinary office software should be doing. But unfortunately there are computer worms and bugs can easily penetrate the computer network with MS office, that's why I switch to OpenOffice Org.2
With regards to Open Office, I believe that this office suite will someday find its place in the sun in this wired digital jungle because its applications are more user-friendly than other suites use for businesses. Aside from my business, I'm also a frustrated writer and I usually "scribble" my ideas using the Office Org 2 Writer which is their version of Word, or sometimes I make notes through their Text editor which is MS Office's Notepad version but unlike notepad, the text editor has its own spell check features and you can set the language that you want to use.
I've heard a rumor that one of the general managers of MS said in an interview that Office Org.2 is ten years behind them. I think that's somehow true especially when he is referring to the years MS has been operating in the computer business and I guess that his statement is that MS is very old compared to the newbie Office Org.2. But you can't teach old dogs new tricks as they say, that's why more people are ditching MS since if we will be basing it on performance and cost, Open Office Org.2 is 30 years more advanced than Microsoft

A multimedia presentation is always a necessity to every office especially in the marketing and advertising industry. A presentation serves as a visual aid to analysis reports, market researches, or even advertisement game plan. Sometimes, it's also used by personal computer users for their school projects, family occasions and many more. It is even use by some influential people even if they already have the gift of the gab.
Microsoft PowerPoint had given much help for a very long time. That's why sometimes using it can make our presentations gone pear-shaped. I'm not saying that we should ditch PowerPoint. I just want to inform you guys that there's a new kid on the block who's more than excited to help you create superb presentations.

A customer's feedback is very essential to a business. Why? Because it would reflect the way you do business with them. Most of the time you have to check if clients still enjoy the features and service that your company offers. Doing so will help you conceptualize more marketing strategy and produce better products. To do this, you must send out feedback or survey sheets for them to fill out.
Designing a questionnaire online can become a traumatic experience for new business entrepreneurs. Sometimes you run out of questions to ask and end up repeating the same interrogative sentence again and again in a single form. After ten times of revising your wacky form, you just see yourself mimicking your NBA idol, throwing the poor, crumpled parchment in the waste bin.
However, new helpful softwares were manufactured exclusively for you to solve your waterloo in creating documents. Just like the powerful Web Questionnaire version 3.0. It has questionnaire editor and templates so that you can come up with an output that your customers will love to answer. It also has a library of questionnaires so that you can properly choose questions that will match honest answers.

Before the computer was invented, most offices resemble stock room or storage for documents. Forms and files are difficult to handle and manage because of the shear volume. Records such as book keeping, payroll, inventory all have to be done manually.
If errors are made in documents or extra copies are required, they need to be retyped. Nonetheless, life was much simpler then. People have more time to do quality work without the aid of computers. Office programs such as spreadsheets, processors and database software had replaced slide rules, typewriters and filing cabinets. The office has become more efficient and conducive for work.

Most business and office-related works such as file and data management, report presentation, communication, book keeping and auditing, etc. all have computer software application counterparts that are specially programmed as aid in accomplishing various office tasks. These computer application programs are sometimes grouped under the software category office.
Word processors and spreadsheets are the most common software application in use today and these two are also among the first batch of software developed purposely for office use. The recent version of office software
application package now include database like Access, presentation tool like PowerPoint, email management like Microsoft Outlook, word processor like Word, and spreadsheet like Excel.
